Are you in the midst of wedding planning? Here is a little word to the wise when it comes to rock-bottom priced vendors: if it’s too good to be true, it is. I believe that in today’s economic market we as consumers are always looking for the “best deal” or “cheapest price”. I myself am totally guilty of this! I’m not sure if it’s Walmart’s doing or just the simple fact that there seems to be less money and more bills nowadays.
However, you need to be aware that when it comes to the wedding industry, you really do get what you pay for. Weddings are expensive no doubt, but there’s nothing worse than paying for a product or service that is less than satisfactory. I could tell you story after story of clients going the cheaper route, only to be later disappointed with the quality. Now remember, I was once a bride so I fully understand the word “budget”. But if I look back on all the things I was frugal on, I find myself with a tinge of regret, like my dress for example.
So, if a vendor is selling you the moon at an incredible low low price, be skeptical and do some research- hopefully, before your guests get food poisoning because of the “deal” your caterer gave you. Get a few quotes and see what the range is. Also, make sure to read the reviews but read them with a grain of salt (sometimes people’s expectations are just unreasonable). So, just a recap on things to do when selecting your wedding vendors:
. See what the average cost is for each vendor category.
. Get at least 3 different quotes
. Read the reviews
. Don’t be swayed by the “deal” without doing the proper research
The more you know, the better you are equipped to make a lasting decision you can stand by.
