A super romantic wedding set among willow trees, waterfalls and rolling vineyards, yeah, we’re totally here for this! Dana and Jonathan’s Tuscan inspired wedding was a dreamy outdoor affair outlined with olive orchards and majestic oak trees in Paso Robles, CA.
Tuscan Inspired Wedding
“Because we met in Santa Barbara we wanted to get married in that area. We really loved the romance of the vineyard feel, so we ended up a little more north in wine country: Paso Robles. After finding our venue which was beautiful, and classic, and romantic all on its own, everything else just fit into place.”
“My parents first date was ice skating at Rockefeller center in NYC right before Christmas, and I’ve told Jonathan I’ve always wanted to go. Very early on in our relationship he told me he’d propose to me in the middle of the ice skating rink.
Fast forward 4 years and Jonathan surprised me with a trip to Vail right before Christmas. He told me it was my Christmas present. We went out to dinner and I saw a skating rink in the middle of Vail Village, I asked him if we could skate before dinner (little did I know this was all part of the plan), he proposed to me in the middle of the ice rink (Vail was a way to throw me off the scent but also its beautiful!)”
“I wanted vintage, classic, lacey and romantic. My vision for my dress was definitely a lot different than the one I ended up buying because the truth is once you start trying on dresses you start realizing what looks good in pictures isn’t necessarily what you want to be wearing in front of your family and friends on your wedding day. But I did end up with an all lace vintage, classic, romantic style.
For Jonathan we went with a fitted grey suit with black lapels for a little more style than the average grey suit.”
“I wanted lots of greenery, white and peaches. The venue has lots of greenery and some white roses I wanted the flowers to fit into place in among the venue’s landscape. We also used greenery to go down the middle of the tables which were all long rectangular farm style tables. It gave it a very natural look.”
DIY, handmade, or personal details
“My mom handmade me these beautiful table numbers with painted stumps for the holders and written out cardboard numbers spray painted goal. She just happened to have these perfect, super pretty wooden stumps laying around from an old art project.
My bridesmaids helped me collect a bunch of glass votives to borrow, in a bunch of different styles and I loved having the mismatched look as part of the center pieces.”
One of my favorite pictures from the day is a picture of me and Jonathan dancing in the middle of a circle of our friends. And it was all completely spontaneous. We told our DJ to play Elton John’s Tiny Dancer as the first song because the song was sort of an inside joke with our college friends, but we were not expecting the response it got. Our friends got up and started singing around us and all grabbed hands. It was such a great way to kick off the night and get everybody up and dancing.”
