|Beauty & the Beast|
Today is our second entry on the Wedding Diaries series by Bride Beauty. Yes we would refer to the couple as what they prefer; Beauty & the Beast. You must have figured that they are a “Disney” couple hence the name but in case you did not…well now you know. Enjoy the Wedding Diaries series by Beauty, we are so excited about her first entry!

I’m Beauty. I’m 25 years old and just past the halfway point in what might be one of the longest engagements ever. My fiance is also 25, and I still sometimes can’t believe that I’m lucky enough for him to want to hang out with me for the rest of his life.
We are not a traditional couple. We’ve never lived in the same city, we’re from two different states, have differing political views, and in any sane world, never should have met. We met in November of 2010. I had just gotten out of a (horrible terrible no good very) bad relationship, he had just gotten out of the military. My favorite parts of the story of our meeting are:
- that it was at Disney World. It was his first time there, and my 101st, probably. I go a lot.
- that he actually asked me to marry him that night, as a joke, when I mentioned the strawberry-peach cobbler I had made for the Fourth of July that year. Proposal was complete with napkin ring. Since I know you’re curious, I did, in fact, say yes.
After that night, we went back to our respective cities, and unbeknownst to the other, couldn’t stop thinking about one another. He finally asked my friend, who was the reason he had come to Disney World in the first place, if I was available. But I guess you could say I made the first move. Since she couldn’t resist telling me about this phone call, I instant messaged him first. That evolved into texting (or “Here’s my phone number in case you get bored.” He’s so slick with the lines.), which evolved into phone calls, then Skype, then a full blown visit. All in 3 weeks. Which still shocks me.
Fast forward to a lot of miles on the odometer, and August of 2011. I was moving, to go to grad school, and Beast was helping me drive. After a few drinks, we called it a night, and after a fairly emotional conversation in the car, he told me to get out. It was late, we were downtown, I refused. But then he got out, and I know better than to let him go. I followed, and he looked at me and said “I’m not going to get down on one knee, I don’t have a ring, and I know you’re not ready for this, but how long are you going to love me?” I jokingly told him that if he remembered this conversation in the morning, I would marry him.
He did. <<<< Exciting right? We are looking for 2 more Brides or Grooms to join the Wedding Diaries for this season. If you like to document your wedding planning journey and can promise some consistency in doing this then I need your email like yesterday! Send me your entries!
