It’s going to be on the beach right? Not necessarily….
As a destination wedding photographer in Barbados, I frequently get asked what’s the best venue for weddings on the island, and often the questioner expects a beach location as an answer. Well Barbados does have some outstanding beaches , whether it’s on the islands “Platinum Coast” on the western side of the island, or the deserted romantic coves like Bottom Bay and Foul Bay or the rugged east coast, however did you know that this Caribbean island offers much more than just the beach?
The island also boasts a number of plantation great houses which are available for hire for wedding events. Amongst these are George Washington House (which is the only location outside of the Continental USA that was ever visited by George Washington),Nicholas Abbey Fisherpond Great House, Pollards Mill and many more.
Perhaps you wish a garden wedding… Barbados is home to a number of lush tropical gardens that are available for weddings including Orchid World, Hunte’s Gardens, Flower Forest, Andromeda Gardens and much more.
The range of venues is amazingly wide; you can also get married on a submarine under the sea or on one of the British Airways Concordes which is on permanent display at the airport. The venues mentioned in this article are not an exhaustive list and I’m not even going to begin to go into the number of hotels, restaurants and villas that have fantastic gardens and beaches that frequently host weddings. (That’s a whole other article in itself)
This tropical island paradise doesn’t limit your options to just having a wedding on the beach. If you do want a beach wedding, Barbados has some of the best beaches in the world. If you are looking for a destination wedding that’s a little different, come and have a look at what we offer.
