Shabby Chic Virginia Wedding
“Aaron and Arianna Rosenberger said “I do” on April 9th, 2017 during an intimate ceremony (with lots of tears!) and celebrated with a laid back reception. When I arrived, I saw the incredible wedding venue that is the Kyle House in Roanoke. It was my first time photographing there and I fell in love with its charm. The ceremony space is cozy and intimate, while the whole house can be used for the reception, which makes you feel right at home.
The barn chapel where the ceremony took place featured a lovely juxtaposition of rustic wood floors, walls and ceilings with crisp white draping + multiple crystal chandeliers to lighten up and brighten the space. I love that part of the floor is whitewashed to keep with the integrity of the historic building, but also to create a special aisle for the bride. And the draped + lit backdrop behind the alter? Stunning! Chiavari chairs were the icing on the cake, adding an extra touch of glam to this rustic space.
After the reception, guests entered the banquet room that feels like you’re stepping into an antique French tearoom. With hardwoods, wallpaper, chandeliers and lace linen toppers, it’s the perfect compliment to the rest of the venue’s charm, sweet gardens + the historic streets of Roanoke.” – Mason Photography
“A favorite moment for us both was the Polonaise Dance! It’s a European tradition and I did it many times at important events growing up so doing it at our wedding was really special. Plus during the dance you come face to face with everybody else and it was great to see all of our loved ones!
The best moment though was the look on one of Aaron’s grandmother’s face as she clapped along to the beat, totally priceless! Is there anything special that you had growing up or from your culture? Make sure to do it at your wedding!” – Arianna
“Literally Snapchat brought us together! We meet in college and made mutual friends. However, he is two grades below me (although only 1 year younger) so I met him as a freshman and didn’t take much notice. That is until I took him to a formal dance and we had fun! Then that summer, we started messaging each other and haven’t stopped since 🙂 eventually we became official.
Then I graduated, moved to a different state, and we waited for two years for him to be done with school. He proposed April before graduation and we were married the next April. We can attest that absence makes the heart grow fonder!” – Arianna
Wedding Planning Advice
“My main advice would be to choose the location carefully. Because our venue was so beautiful, I didn’t have too much pressure to decorate lavishly! I love crafting and some of my favorite memories include crafting with Alexandra, one of my bridesmaids.
Also we each picked something that we cared about and splurged on that. For me, I picked the photographer and Aaron picked the cupcakes. There were probably less expensive options out there but those were two details very important to us so we spent more there. Finally, it’s very surreal to have your worlds combine like this but make sure you are grateful for each moment!” – Arianna
