One of the first things I began doing after we found our wedding venue was making wedding decorations. As I mentioned in my venue post it was important for us to find a venue that was already beautiful so we wouldn’t have to decorate as much. I wanted to make it as easy as possible on ourselves. I love crafts so it is no problem for me to make decorations it is just finding time to do it. I was pretty lucky because when we got engaged I was in between jobs and had a lot of time to plan and create.

Before starting on the decor, it helped me to create an inspiration board to inspire color, decor and a general theme. The inspiration board was also very helpful when meeting with the florist so she could see the colors, theme and bouquet ideas. I had a pinterest board that was overwhelmingly full of ideas. It was helpful for me to narrow down my ideas to 9 images.

These images show a clear idea of what I want, allowing me to stay focused and not feel overwhelmed with ideas and decisions. I also tried to think of things I already had that we could use. Our decorations will include lanterns, doile bunting, string lights, wood cookie center pieces, wine and beer bottle vases (this saves you money on the flowers because the stem of a bottle is much narrower than a vase) and a few chalk board signs. Here is a sneak peak at a few of my creations. I cannot wait to see it all come together at the wedding!
