When: July 1, 2017 | Where: Silverado, CA | Colors: Pink, Grey | Theme: Outdoor, Rustic Elegance
Floral garlands, lanterns, and flamingo-pink peonies splashed throughout the design of this pink and gray rustic elegant outdoor California wedding. Captured gorgeously by OANA FOTO, this Christian wedding has the perfect design details and faith based references to inspire you!
The church also incorporated a floral arch with pops of the fun color. Smaller details included a ring-bible (in lieu of a pillow), “his and hers” serving forks for the cake cutting, unique place cards, and a sign-in bible where guests can highlight their favorite verse and leave advice for the newlyweds.
The Wedding Attire
“I definitely wanted to get my bridesmaids in dresses that weren’t poofy or the “typical bridesmaid dress”. Adrianna Papell had just the perfect about of elegant that I was needing to balance out the rustic elements. My dress was the easiest to choose, it was the fourth dress I had tried on – and the minute I had it on I knew it was the one! It was modest enough to make me comfortable and confident – but fitting enough to give that extra POW factor :)”
The Wedding Flowers
“… Naomi with Beautiful Savage Flowers was so amazing to work with! She took our discombobulated ideas and magically made everything look like envisioned! The coral peonies added just enough life to the decor that was needed for the outdoor venue!”
DIY, handmade, or Personal details
“The morning of the wedding I gave my mom a compact mirror that was a custom engraved message saying “I am who I am as a reflection of you” and an embroidered handkerchief to my Dad thanking him for being the best father and for standing by my side on this special day! We all ugly cried when we exchanged gifts :)”
Any Special traditions?
“Prayer with the bridal party was a must for us! It brought such a sense of peace that we all really needed before the ceremony began! We wanted to put Christ at the center of our wedding!”
What was the most important to the two of you while planning?
“The most important thing for us while planning our big day was our photographer and wedding planner/coordinator. The first vendor we contacted was OanaFoto. We knew Oana for many years before our wedding and we knew there was no one else we would want to capture the most important day of our lives! Oana’s photos are worth a million words and then some!
Britt from LVL Weddings & Events was hands down, my life saver throughout this process! She was my right hand woman, she was on top of her game, and SO organized. Something that we really needed because I was planning everything from across the country!”
Wedding Planning Advice
“Don’t forget that this day is about YOU. You don’t need to please everyone – designate people that are on charge in case issues arise. You don’t need to know all the problems going on. The day is stressful and exciting enough without having to know that Aunt Sally didn’t receive her vegan gluten free meal at the table she wasn’t assigned to! It will all work out – have faith in your vendors – they have way more experience than you do!”
About The Couple
“Chris and I met when we were kids at our small church. We grew up in the same friend group, but never thought twice at the possibility of us ending up together. We went to the same college, and took some classes together along with some other friends.
All of our friends dropped the class except Chris and I. So we began to have study sessions in which we’d talk about the other relationships we both had going on – and one thing led to another – we both ended up single and it was all downhill from there!”
Proposal Story
Two years into our relationship, myself along with my family moved across the country to Charlotte, NC. Chris and I did long distance for two additional years until he decided enough was enough and that it was time for the next step in our relationship.
He, along with his entire family (parents and three siblings) all flew out to NC and planned the proposal at the Biltmore Mansion in Asheville, NC! My parents were sneaky and planned a “family trip” to the mansion. Upon arrival, a path of rose petals led to me a bench which had a laptop placed on it with a cute handwritten note written by Chris that said “open me”.
I opened the laptop, and on the screen was a video that Chris had put together. In the video, Chris talked about how he was never able to surprise me (since I’m basically an FBI and find out everything accidentally) and that it was time we make the next step in our relationship. The video ended with him telling me to turn around.
As I turned around, Chris was standing there, with a guitar and starting LIVE SINGING A SONG WRITTEN BY HIM!! He was very nervous and the song had like 6 verses to it and it took like 10 minutes for him to actually get through it, but…. he ended it with getting down on one knee and asking me to be his wife!! (Obviously I said yes!!!)”
