About the Rustic Chic Farm Wedding
Lush green gardens, calm secluded surroundings, and shimmering still waters, gave these two a tranquil and perfect spot to see one another for the first time on their wedding day! That personal and unique time together at Mepkin Abbey is what the couple favored most about their wedding with Rachel saying, “We both loved having a first look before the wedding. I am an emotional person and I did not want to cry at the alter seeing him. I am very thankful for that moment with him and it helped calm both of our nerves and have time before the craziness to enjoy having a moment to ourselves.”
The ceremony took place right beside the Farm’s wooded forest, in a beautiful green clearing. There outside, an enchanting archway stood with delightful old country doors leading into the simple and natural timber seating area for the guests. At the end of the aisle stood a folksy arbor as the Bride and Groom’s wedding alter where the two exchanged vows.
For the reception, a charming wooden barn held their elegant celebration with warm glowing string lights, delicate chandeliers, antique furniture pieces, and wooden farm tables all topped off with soft pink, periwinkle blue, mint green, and crisp white floral arrangements.
Wedding Planning Advice
“I recommend going to premarital counseling before you are even engaged and married. It was huge eye opener on some things that we needed to plan for and change. We still keep into contact with our premarital couple that mentored us. They have so much wisdom and are there to help make sure that you are both right for each other and how to have a marriage that lasts.
You cannot please everyone and that is perfectly fine. Just enjoy planning the wedding and your day. Everyone that loves and cares about you will be there for you and your future husband’s day. Unfortunately people will get their feelings hurt for the most ridiculous reasons, but just focus on the both of you and building a strong faithful marriage. Some things that people get their feelings hurt over will not matter in a day, week, month, and years to come but your marriage will matter forever.” – Rachel
About the Couple
“We were actually across the street neighbors during high school, but did not meet officially until our senior year in high school when I started going to his church. We soon began to realize we had a lot in common and developed a fast friendship and started dating.
He proposed on Valentine’s Day last year on Sullivan’s Island, SC. I have always just wanted to get up early to watch the sun rise on the beach. I was home from nursing school visiting family so that morning he wanted to take me to Sullivan’s Island to watch the sun rise. It was a beautiful morning watching the sun rise and he proposed right after.”
