About the Outdoor Farm Wedding
Kim’s family traveled from across the world to be there on her wedding day, where they celebrated in the scorching heat for this fun looking outdoor farm wedding. The mountain views on Sunny Slope Farm are stunning, the tented reception was one for the books and all that cat-inspiration was genius!
“My aunt Patsy did ALL of the decorations herself using things she had from her home. She knows I love to read so she made lots of paper flowers out of old book pages. I didn’t want to make ANY decisions about decor so I told Patsy my colors and she ran with it! She modeled the coffee station after the one she has in her farmhouse. I was so happy and surprised to see it all on the big day because I hadn’t seen anything beforehand!” – Kim
About the Couple
I tutored Brad’s cousin five years ago. Brad’s Aunt & Uncle randomly saw me at the local ice cream shop one summer evening and suggested I go on a date with their nephew. At this point I had just ended a 2-year relationship (amicably) and was looking forward to being on my own for a while!
Brad’s Aunt sent me a message a few days later and asked if she could give Brad my contact info. We agreed to meet downtown for dinner and a movie on 7/11/14. We hit it off immediately! When the date ended Brad shook my hand and said “We should do this again sometime,” which I thought was his way of letting me down easy. Nope! Turns out he is just a super respectful man who didn’t wanna intrude on my space on the first date. He texted me as soon as he got home that evening so I knew it was really special. We played tennis the next day (a common interest of ours) and have basically been inseparable ever since.
He proposed on a cold January morning. He originally wanted to do it on our ski trip but knew I wouldn’t have cell phone service and wouldn’t be able to share the news with anyone. So on January 12th, work was delayed for two hours due to snow and Brad came to my house with a hot cup of coffee from my favorite local shop, Greenberry’s. I’m obsessed with coffee!!). On it he wrote “will you marry me?” And the beautiful ring was sitting on top!” – Kim
Wedding Planning Advice
“DO WHAT YOU LOVE! We both love our cats (we have 4 combined) and breakfast food. We met with several caterers and tasted a lot of delicious dinner foods, but couldn’t make any decisions. Finally we asked one of the caterers if they could possibly do a “Breakfast for dinner” (our wedding was in the evening) and they were onboard! We gave them a few ideas and they ran with it! It was a huge hit. We loved having breakfast at our wedding… no regrets about that! Also, we had a lot of quirky cat decor, including our cake toppers. We don’t hide the fact that we’re crazy about our cats and everyone who knows us wasn’t surprised at all to see so many cat tributes!” – Kim
