Michael and Alison wedding was a gorgeous summer wedding with at the Four Seasons Resort in Orlando. With subtle details of Disney because the couple met at Disney world, this Orlando summer outdoor wedding is lit with a fun color combination, stunning decor and my fave, the outdoor ceremony!

Orlando Summer Outdoor Wedding

“Since we met at Disney World (on May 26, 2014), we wanted to go back there and get married exactly 3 years later. Even though it was at Disney, I only wanted subtle touches of “Disney” as decorations. I wanted the style to be modern, simple, and elegant. The colors were gray, navy, pewter and pops of metallic and yellow.”

How They Met

“We met while working as interns at Walt Disney World – he was an engineer and I was a graphic designer both working in the safety department. He happened to be in the cubicle right next to mine. We spent a lot of first dates at Magic Kingdom watching fireworks.”

Proposal Story

“We traveled to Hong Kong to visit my extended family. Mike planned a romantic hike on Dragon’s Back mountain on New Year’s Eve. When we reached the top overlooking the islands and the city, Mike went on one knee and proposed. We were able to celebrate this moment with my family and watch fireworks like our first date. It was one of the most incredible fireworks we had ever seen.”

Wedding Attire

“I wanted to choose a dress that would be timeless – a classic lace dress with a train. I wanted Mike’s tux to be a little different than the groomsmen. His was a dark gray tux with a black tie and pop of yellow in the boutonniere. The groomsmen had light gray tuxes with black ties to match Mike a little bit. Underneath all of their tuxes were superhero shirts I designed for them (a special request from Mike). We picked the same light gray tuxes for our fathers but with Navy Blue ties and vest.

The bridesmaids all wore the same long dress in Pewter which matched the light gray tuxes nicely.”

Wedding flowers

“We wanted flowers to match the classic look of our wedding. We chose a lot of white flowers with pops of blue and yellow. We wanted a mixture of tall centerpieces and short to give the tables more contrast. We also wanted a few on our cake.”

Wedding cake

“Our cake was designed by the Four Seasons. It was white with some hints of gold with flowers on the side. We picked a vanilla cake with strawberry filling. It was a 3 tier circular cake.”

Wedding Favors – Edible

“We gave out our favorite local Orlando treat – Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. This was another one of our date spots that we wanted our guests to experience. They were able to choose from 3 of our favorite flavors.”

DIY/Handmade/Personal details

“I created a Welcome sign and an unplugged sign in three different language since Mike’s family is fluent in Spanish and mine in Cantonese. I also created the table numbers, seating chart, and menu designs.”

Family heirlooms or special traditions

“We did a Cuban blanket tradition during the ceremony which symbolizes the unity of families. We also did a traditional Chinese tea ceremony where we served tea to our elders and in return, they give us little red envelopes to symbolize good fortune.”

Wedding Planning Advice

“Don’t stress on the little things. Not everything is always going to go as planned but just enjoy the love you have for each other and know that friends and family are all there to support you every step of the way.”
