Today’s gorgeous shoot hits home for me in 2 different aspects; the fact that it hails from my city (Toronto) and represents my country by marriage (Ghana)! No doubt, I totally couldn’t wait to share this modern Ghanaian wedding inspiration with our KV readers!
Titled “Odo Pa” which means “Great Love” in Twi (a Ghanaian, West African Dialect), this shoot embodies the tradition of Ghana in a very modern setting. Planned by Grace of A Touch of Grace Events and photographed by Envoy Photography, swoon with us over this culture rich wedding inspiration shoot!
Odo Pa | Modern Ghanaian Wedding Inspiration
“I wanted the shoot to display the rich culture of Ghana, West Africa. But I also wanted to show how Ghanaian cultured can be entwined into Western culture for a fabulous fusion of cultures and practices. The 1st model is adorned in a beautiful, bright handwoven fabric called “kente”. The decor of the tablescape complements and heightens the richness of the fabric and depicts the proud Ghanaian traditional bride. The second model on the other hand is wearing a beautiful lace gown with statement headpieces and bold contemporary makeup to go with it.
Ghanaian traditional marriages are very “traditional” in nature. But I want millennial brides to see how they can fuse tradition with modern elements and still stay true to the fundamental elements.” – A Touch of Grace Events
