About New Jersey Whimsical Wedding
Sarah and Ryan’s New Jersey Whimsical wedding is everything we adore here on KV! Being a lover of flowers, natural, wild and organic feeling, when Sarah met with Amy Young from Leaves of Grass Floral Design, she knew that her ethereal, natural aesthetic was in line with hers. They worked together to create an enchanted, secret garden using beautiful flowers that aren’t usually found in wedding arrangements.
Sarah didn’t want vases on tables, instead a carpenter and exhibition installer, worked with Amy and their favorite branch farmer to craft table top trellises out of exotic seven sons wood, 10 year old trees that had been waiting and growing on Ben’s farm for a special event! The effect was an overgrown, natural ambiance of flowers and vines that always seemed to be on the structures and windows. Sarah and Ryan also wanted a bit of whimsy, fun and playfulness in their day, so instead of bouquets and traditional boutonnieres, there were pinwheels!
With Sarah’s mom being a graphic designer, everything from their invitations to the printed decorations and photo booth props, were custom and followed the same ideas of playfulness, whimsical and natural beauty. Sarah and Ryan’s first conversation was about muppets, so this is why she created a Ryan muppet as his wedding gift and also why their cake topper was Kermit and Piggy.
There was a lot of DIY and personal touches included; from Ryan’s cufflinks with his grandmother to the groom’s cufflinks (the latitude and longitude of the place he met each of them) to Sarah’s heirloom jewelry, and more. Sarah’s overall vision was a naturally beautiful ambiance and setting that complemented, not obstructed the amazing surroundings of Bonnet and Barnegat Bay. She wanted the day to feel casual, fun and comfortable without seeming too structured or stuffy.
