About the Missouri Wine Country Wedding
Lindsey and Joe live in Missouri and wanted a casual outdoor wedding. After some searching, they found Wine Country Gardens in Defiance, MO. Wine Country Gardens sits on top of a hill so both the ceremony and reception spaces have beautiful vistas of the vineyard and surrounding area. The couple decided to have an evening ceremony so there was plenty of time to enjoy getting ready, taking photos, and hanging out in the morning and afternoon without feeling rushed.
Lindsey decided to DIY a lot of things for the event in order to save money. She bought her flowers wholesale and arranged them herself. She also designed and made the program fans and other small bits of the event. “Even though these things took a lot of time, I’m glad I did them myself – they turned out exactly how I wanted!” – Lindsey
The couple went the non-traditional route by walking down the aisle side by side, hand in hand!
How they Met
“We met sophomore year in college at Truman State University. It was Joe’s first semester in college after serving 4 years in active duty Army as an Infantryman. We were both in ROTC and were in the same Military Science class. Joe sat next to me on the first day of class that semester and we started talking. The rest is history :)” – Lindsey
Proposal Story
“We decided to go on a backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado for Fourth of July. We arrived to the park and began hiking to our first camping site. We set up our camp and decided to go exploring. After a few miles of hiking, we came upon a beautiful meadow. Joe turned to me and asked if I would go on adventures with him for the rest of our lives and I said of course. Then he knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said “yes” and we spent the rest of the evening hiking and watching fireworks.”
Wedding Planning Advice
“Don’t let the small stuff consume you and enjoy the day. It goes by so quickly and it’s easy to focus on the little details instead of just enjoying your day together. Make sure you take time alone together as a couple throughout the day.” – Lindsey
