About A Midsummer Night’s Dream Themed Wedding
Lorenzo and Giada’s lovely, outdoors summer wedding has been inspired by the play; A midsummer night’s dream. The stationery (invitation, seating chart) was designed following the cover style of a vintage copy of the novel. Ivy and lavender are quite everywhere, even in the rice-cones, filled with lavender seeds instead of rice, making the overall mood more romantic and bohemian.
The venue was located 40 minutes from Rome; a grassy clearing in the midst of the chestnut forest is the perfect set for the outdoor ceremony. The reception was held in the same location which was very important to the couple that their guests don’t travel too much for the wedding. After the cake (whose cake-topper has been designed and painted by another close friend) the party turns more funny and lively thanks to live music and traditional Irish and Scottish dancers. The dancers performed a show and then entertained the guest with a quick Irish dance class which was very involving for everyone.
“I proposed to my wife at a park near the bench where we gave our first kiss (summer of 2004), the place is “parco del Pincio” in the center of Rome. Giada sings in an acoustic rock band and I organized with her band members to come and play “stand by me”, they hid while I brought her to a place with a good view over Rome and they started playing, at a certain point I dropped something to make her turn and when she turned back to me I was proposing her on my knee with the ring in my hand and… she said yes.” – Lorenzo
Wedding Planning Advice
“Make your wedding just like you want it to be, like you imagine it to be, and how you want to remember it. Invite just the people you want to see on this great day and don’t feel obliged towards anybody, just remember that it’s YOUR day, if someone doesn’t want to understand this, they don’t care enough for you.”
