Today we are in the mood to enjoy the winter without feeling the cold. How do you do that? You have an Indoor Winter wedding! These high school sweet hearts Brittany and Johnny, had their winter themed wedding in DC with colors like periwinkle blue, silver, grey and white.
The couple really wanted a venue in DC because DC was a big part of their relationship. They ended up using the gorgeous Cocoran Gallery of Art in DC. These wedding photos and details have been submitted by Shile of RAE Affairs and captured by Tunji Sarumi.
About the Couple – In Brittany’s words
We built a wonderful relationship at that time, even though we were only both in the 10th grade. I even told a teacher that I knew Johnny was who I thought I was going to marry. She just looked at me like I was crazy. I assumed she was thinking, you are to young to be thinking about that, but that’s how I felt even then.
Since then, we’ve had our ups and downs , good and bad times, break ups and makeups, but we’ve always been nearby, a phone call away, or a drive up the street. We have never veered far away!
I feel very blessed to have Johnny in my life. He is definitely my better half! He keeps me calm when I’m nervous, he is my accountability partner in Christ, and I feel safe when he is near . Johnny is my best friend. We laugh all the time about the dumbest of things, and he loves to eat just as much as me!
About the Vouple – In Johnny’s words
As we grew older we faced ups and downs but our hearts never strayed far from each other. Brittany has become my best friend, my therapist, my motivation and a reason to be a better man.
Brittany never judged me or looked down on me for mistakes I’ve made. Instead, she has shown me the truth behind scriptures like 1 Peter 4:8 which says “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins”. I’m very thankful for Gods Gift, my fiancé and wife to forever be.
About the Wedding
This winter wonderland themed wedding was made up of 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 2 boys and 3 girls in the wedding party. Brittany was hopeful December wouldn’t come with snow and her wishes were granted but with an unexpected turn of almost a 70 degrees weather in December.
The wedding was catered by Main Events Caterers and they had a little over 200 guests (220). The couple got married at the beautiful Refuge Temple in DC where the groom holds a ministerial position. The groom’s father is a Pastor and so it was important for them to have some gospel music infused in their wedding day.
They achieved it by having the Brian Cunningham band including the lead singer DC’s own Erica Smith. They also had a string quartet at the ceremony and the well known Richard Jones sang at the ceremony. Music was very important to the both of them and they also had a separate live band for the cocktail hour which was led by the bride’s cousins.
