Here on Knotsvilla we are sticklers for color and a romantic one is sure to always make our hearts flutter. Sage green does just that and Ryan and Will’s elegant Virginia wedding shows it off gorgeously!
Details such as the location, her exquisite dress, his dapper tux, the beautiful soft palette of flowers and bridesmaids dresses, marble and gold leaf cake, all came together beautifully for this wedding.
Elegant Sage Green Wedding
When: Sept 23, 2017 | Where: Norfolk, VA | Theme: Elegant | Colors: Sage, Blush
“Being a big New York Yankees fan, Will surprised Ryan with New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox tickets at Christmas. On top of that, he had invited many of Ryan’s closest friends! I thought it was just going to be a fun weekend away with all of our friends in New York City (VERY oblivious to why everybody actually came).
A few months before the July baseball game, he surprised Ryan with another gift – a “Hands On History” tour where we could hold all the old memorabilia of the legendary Yankees. When the day arrived and near the end of the tour, Will asked to get a picture with Ryan in front of a replicated modern day locker. He asked if we could be cheesy and put “Cobb” at the top (what is our last name, now). I agreed.
Before we left the photo-op, will got down on one knee and said that he wanted his last name to be my last name for the rest of his life! It was perfect.”
“Black Tie, Optional. We had a handful of people arrive in tuxedos and floor length dresses, which ended up looking great.
I spent more time picking out the bridesmaid dresses than my own wedding gown! I wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable – I had people of all shapes and sizes. I knew that having the dress fit around the ribs would compliment all of the girls and it did!!”
“Very soft colors – sage green, blush, and white. There were a few main arrangements up near the alter and on the main dining table.”
“Will and my favorite cake are both carrot cake – this was two of the four layers! The two other flavors were the traditional crowd pleasers. The display was gorgeous- very well done. It was marbleized.”
Wedding Favors – Edible
“We own a miniature schnauzer, so we had (people) cookies that looked like Schnauzers. We wrote a sign with a picture of our dog that said, “Bone A-Pet-Treat.” In hind-sight, I should have written “these are for people to eat” because some people thought they were dog treats! Ha! Oh well.”
Wedding Planning Advice
“Be sure to take a few moments in on the day of the wedding to remember how special it is. It is good to have a few minutes to yourself, look in the mirror when you are all ready to go. When you finally see your to-be husband, be sure you all have a few moments together and alone to soak it all in. These were pieces of advice given to me and it really went a long way.”
