Coastal Vintage Wedding by McPherson Photography

One of my favorite themes you all must know is the nautical one and today’s wedding mixes it so beautifully with a vintage theme. Kenny and Emily’s coastal vintage wedding is everything when it comes to details, color combinations (Pink & Grey) and good photography – we have McPherson Photography to thank for that!

The couple tied the knot early summer in May 2015 on the eastern shore with the ceremony overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, and an indoor reception. For the vintage bits, Emily used lace through out the wedding; her dress and decor. More vintage and “something old” were brought to the mix with her great grandmother’s cameo brooch which was pinned onto her bouquet, her great grandmother’s bracelet, her mother’s earnings, and her garter belt that was made by her maternal grandmother from the lace of her mother’s wedding veil.

About the Couple & How They Met

“We met through mutual friends and we also went to the same church.  Our friendship developed overtime as we would hangout after church and go for ice cream and just talk for hours. We became really close friends, and stayed just that for a little over a year, before we started dating.  We dated for two years before he proposed, and were engaged for a year before marriage.

He proposed to me at what was once called Kings Creek Marina, but is now under new ownership and goes by The Oyster Farm at Kings Creek Cape Charles, VA.  It was my birthday weekend and he wanted to take me on a trip to the Eastern Shore! We spent all day at the exploring Cape Charles and he took me to a sunset dinner at Aqua, which is the restaurant located on The Oyster Farm.  We then walked along the beach for the remainder of the sunset, and that is where he proposed!” – Emily

Wedding Planning Advice

“Set a budget from the beginning, because you WILL go over, but I found that the budget helped me prioritize what we really needed.  Also, it will get stressful, so don’t forget to take always take a step back and gain perspective of the situation.  There are going to be hiccups and bumps on the road but you can’t drive yourself crazy over that!” – Emily
