Congratulations on your engagement! I am assuming if you found this post you are either in the wedding planning phase or just about to get into. So asking this question about booking wedding vendors is definitely helpful with giving you some direction in planning your wedding.
During wedding planning, time is of the essence and the two common questions that many couples ask once they are in wedding planning mode are;
- How early should I start planning/booking vendors and,
- Which vendors should I book first.
Booking Wedding Vendors: Which Vendors Should I Book First?
For this post, I’d be answering on question #2. And to keep this post straight to the point, the simple answer is “a couple should book first, any vendor that usually can only service 1 wedding per day”. This is usually because their service duration is throughout the wedding or the majority of it, so they are unable to wrap up and head over to another gig while your wedding goes on.
So if a vendor is able to service more than 1 wedding in one day, they shouldn’t be at the top of your list when prioritizing who to book first. The reason is simple, because their services can be provided to more than 1 wedding day, they usually have more availability than a vendor who can only service 1 wedding a day. Does that make sense?
Example is in today’s world where we have mobile hair stylists. Most of these stylists are able to move from location to location servicing different clients because typically a bride doesn’t expect the hair stylist to work on her hair all through the duration of the wedding. Unlike a photographer, who is literally present from the beginning to the end of the wedding, such a vendor needs to be ranked high in the list of who a couple should secure first.
Here would be my suggestion of vendors to book first and as early as you can;
- Venues (reception and ceremony)
- Wedding Planner
- Photography and/or Videography
