Erica and Tom’s Biltmore estate anniversary session was intimate and sweet. Both health care providers, Tom and Erica had little time to celebrate when they eloped years prior to this shoot.
On a weekend getaway, Erica discovered the dress of her dreams in a couture bridal boutique in Atlanta: a Tiffany-blue Oscar de la Renta gown, featured on the cover of Martha Weddings. She immediately purchased the dress with dreams of one day celebrating her marriage to Tom. That dress sat in her closet for a while until she met Katie of Red Boat Photography and inquired about a bridal portrait session.
When Katie realized what the dress symbolized for Erica, she immediately brought in Charity of HoneyBee Events who planned a stunning getaway equal to the glamor of the couture gown, one of Oscar de la Renta’s last gowns. The day dawned rainy and overcast, but nothing could dampen the spirits of Erica and Tom who nuzzled and cuddled the entire time. We loved how Tom and Erica finished off their weekend at The Biltmore Inn with cake and champagne in an intimate gazebo on the grounds. Congratulations Tom and Erica on a beautiful marriage!
About the Couple
“I am a nurse practitioner and he is an emergency department physician, we met while working together. We became friends and grew even closer after I experienced a tragic personal loss. We decided to elope December 12, 2012, and then plan a reception/celebration later in the warmer months.
Well, life and work gets in the way and we put the idea on the back burner until I came across a wedding magazine cover with this gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress on the front. It was unique with its pale blue train and beautiful lace detail. I told my husband if I could find something even close I would love to have it! Well, unbeknown to me, he had called several shops tracking down the actual dress. He came to me one day and said “you have a fitting appointment at a bridal shop in Atlanta”. I didn’t know what to think! Never did I think I would wear a couture gown for anything and now I have a heirloom to pass on to my nieces on their wedding days! (we don’t have daughters, lol).
He truly is my best friend and soul mate! We’ve been through so much in such a short time, it’s made us appreciate our relationship with each other on so many levels!” – Erica
