A Charleston, SC Wedding by Suggs Photography :Jarrett and Kara

Their Story: Kara works as a wholesaler at a MA-based company, and visits several offices along the east coast. Jarrett worked for one of those offices in Charlotte. Two and a half years after meeting, Jarrett successfully convinced Kara to move to Charlotte to spend the rest of their lives together….

The proposal took place in McAdenville, NC (aka “Christmas Town USA”) in late December. Adorned with a Santa hat, Jarrett escorted Kara through the beautifully-lit village with a diamond ring hidden securely in his pocket. While Kara was busy taking photos of the incredible decorations, Jarrett got down on one knee behind her… Kara jumped and said “yes” before Jarrett could even pop the question! Needless to say, McAdenville made Kara’s Christmas (and every) wish come true.

The Journey of Wedding Planning
According to Kara, planning the wedding, although stressful at times, was a lot of fun. The first step was to find a venue that would accommodate Kara’s family (mostly in CT, NY and MA) as well as Jarrett’s family (mostly PA and NC). They decided on a destination wedding in Charleston fairly quickly and easily (they had both visited Charleston together for the first time, and fell in love immediately) and knew that their families and friends would love it. After visiting half a dozen other venues they settled on Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina (CHRM) and just knew it was perfect: on the water, beautiful scenery, and a fantastic event coordinator. The best part was that we were planning a fall wedding, where the weather in Charleston is ideal for outdoor events.

Favorite Wedding Moment
“One of my favorite ceremony moments was walking out to the ceremony; a beautiful sun-lit sky at 4:30 pm, a long wooden pier extended about 100 yards into Charleston harbor, with 95 of our closest friends and family seated facing the priest with Jarrett and his best man. But the best moment of the whole experience was when I (finally) looked up at Jarrett at the end of the aisle and saw the tears in his eyes (although he swears it was sand :o)). I soaked up every minute of that ceremony and the sunshine, and will never forget it.”-Kara

Favorite Wedding Planning Moment
“It can certainly be stressful selecting all of the vendors for the wedding (especially when trying to stay in budget), but I had fun with the process. I would research photographers, for example, then narrow down the list to two favorites. I would then bring the choices to Jarrett to help with the final decision. Mostly, he let me choose what I wanted, but I was surprised to see that he did have input on a few (DJ especially). I had the most fun choosing the photographer (there are some amazing choices out there…) and florist. Jarrett and I also selected wedding music together which turned out perfectly on wedding day” – Kara

Photographer Review by Kara:
My photographers, Graham and Melissa Suggs, were the highlight of my wedding planning/wedding experience. The husband-wife amazing duo were incredible to work with from the very beginning, and have exceeded my expectations at every step in the process.

On the day of the wedding, I can remember having that “this is it” excited feeling as soon as I saw Melissa and Graham’s smiling faces. Aside from their enthusiasm, I most appreciated Melissa & Graham’s preparedness and ability to capture all requested formal/family shots before and after the ceremony, and move things along to the reception (after all, there was an open bar to get ready for…). We were able to take all of the photos we (and our families) wanted – and even snuck in some gorgeous photos at sunset on the pier — and we hardly missed a minute of dinner and the reception.

I really can’t say enough for Melissa & Graham’s artistry and their ability to capture every moment, every facial expression, and every feeling of the wedding just as it happened. The photos are gorgeous, and really capture our personalities and the atmosphere of the night. The photos are absolutely AMAZING and I truthfully couldn’t be happier with my experience or with the end result.

For brides in the NC/SC area that are searching for a photographer, I HIGHLY recommend Suggs Photography. Melissa and Graham are professional, AFFORDABLE (they’re a two-fer!), wonderful to work with, and will deliver unbelievable results.
